Chilled red wine

Anyone ever tried it?

LadyWayne bought some red wine online - or at least that's what she thought. Turns out she'd ordered some red that's specifically for chilling.

I tried some the other night and the description says 'fruity light red'. It ain't wrong. Not bad I say, and quite refreshing. Not sure I'd choose it over a Rioja, but still worth considering for the barbecue summer we're owed.

Ya we had some in Spain - was actually quite nice! As you say, really refreshing. The morning after wasn't though! Red wine hangovers and the after taste are quite the opposite

BBQ summer my A**e. Did you knoe that the very weather people who told us we were going to have a BBQ summer and a mild winter are to receive bonus's. Hmph.
Never tried the wine Wayne but it sounds interesting especially for that long hot summer.

I have enjoyed many a chilled red - I'm not sure what variety it was.* Now I'm fonder of rose - which has suddenly got really popular again!

Essex had a barbecue summer! It was fab! We actually only had five or six barbies, but we did get a good summer. I guess we were lucky!

As for chilled Red Wine, sorry, no. Fruity and full-bodied for me, but not oak-aged, if you don't mind. If it's hot enough for cold drinks, then it's G&T, Pimms or Stella.

Well I'm a heathen and dont even drink white wine chilled, except rarely.
But my pal likes light fruity reds, pref sparkling, and does chill them.
I prefer dryish full bodied reds (Cabernet Sauvignon) and chilling would kill the roundness and depth of flavour.

I made a red wine once that was 'thin' and tasted much better chilled but I much prefer a full bodied red at room temp.

Red has to be room temperature for me and white straight out of the fridge....That's if I can cram it in for all the 1664 I shove in...ya can't beat a cold beer when ya gardening in the sun, rain, fog, wind, snow..... but if someone came to visit that liked there red chilled, I'd pop a bottle in the fridge for them (grudgingly)

Don't touch it mesen, though Mr DDL has drunk both chilled and normal red wine. I think its OK from what Ive heard.

I seem to remember Suffolk's wasn't bad either...although nearly everyone I know begs to differ

I got some Banrock Station sparkly red a couple of years ago,it was for serving chilled.
Not bad,although a bit too much like Ribena as far as how quickly you guzzled it.Not sure whether it was that factor or drinking red wine in the middle of a hot day that contributed to the bad hangover

Time was, years ago, that American wine made from burgundy and champagne was drunk around the USAF bases in Suffolk - I think I have posted about this before. You could get your car fixed for a few bottles. The wine was called Cold Duck.

When we're in France OH keeps banging on about trying some expensive wines. Me I go for the cheaper end of the market as long as it's over 12% . Last time I gave in to the more expensive one it was disgusting whereas the cheapo one I picked was lurvly. Must admit I'm not to keen on Beaujolais p'haps it might be better chilled.
