  • Pet Hedgehogs?

When I visited Stratford Upon Avon recently, I went into a pet shop. I couldn't believe what I was seeing - there were pigmy hedgehogs for sale. The shop owner explained that he had been selling them for several months and that he had had interested from all over the country.
In my local vets I picked up a business card from someone local, also advertising "for all your hedgehog needs/babies for sale".
Gosh! I'd never heard of this before - do any Grapes have pet hedgehogs? Is it just me, or can't I see the point?

I heard about this too, a few months ago and thought how cute then I saw the price, not cute!

Apparently a certain degree of care is concerned, lets hope they don't become a craze like terrapins

Jake likes to pick up hedghogs and carry them around . He's never hurt one just likes to bring them in the kitchen , I wouldn't subject a pygmy hedgehog to that sort of attention.

So wrong. Two of my sons work in pet shops and the amount of people who come in with pets they have no idea how to keep is unbelievable. Both of my sons have exotic pets most of which the owner has given up on. One son's house is like a minnie zoo, he has three chinchilla's, Boa snake,Corn snakes, Bearded dragon, 2 cats, poisen dart frogs, and I cant remember what else. He has recently got rid of a few animals to people he knows will look after them. Both sons will visit people's houses to make sure they have the right equipment and give advice how to look after the animals. They have not been to college or had any training its just what they have read about how to keep animals and have asked advice off other people. I am amazed at how much they both know.
