  • Finally got it all sorted !!!!!!!!!!

    Dear grapes
Those among you who have been about for a while may recall that I was invited to go into business as a partner in a market garden enterprise whereby the other partner would put up the money and the land and I would do the work - well, that fell through due to problems that farmer was going through but by then I had started thinking and so, after much soul searching, I decided to go it on my own. This was not without difficulty but I can finally announce HERE ARE MY 5 ACRES OF ROSS-SHIRE !!

      Good luck Rat!!

My dad used to work in Ross and Cromarty and I sort of remember visiting Alness from time to time. How far is that from Tain (pardon my lack of geography but I was a lot younger and didn't take notice)?

I remember Rat. Looks wonderful. Good luck and every best wish for your success there. Maybe you're better on your own. That way you have all the decision making powers. How's Iona? Do keep us posted with how it is all going.

Congrats, Rat. Of course if you need any labour I'm sure we would all be glad to help in return for a little corner set aside for a (small) campsite for Vine Members. Seriously, wish you all the very best of luck

Rat, you may need a few more seeds for 5 acres. I hope you have every success.

                          Wee free crofter ye.

                          Congratulations Rat.

So many questions, I'm a nosey sod.

What, in outline, are your plans?
                          Smallholding or something else?
What sort of crops or animals?

Perhaps GYO could be persuaded to use you as the subject of a regular article once you start and I'm sure the writing fees would help.
