Sadly the best help is a glass of red! alcohol dilates the blood vessels so I am told!
I cant really be seen taking a good slug of red during classes now can I

I know a little bit about Raynauds, but only through some research I was doing for Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome at work.

Not sure how effective "windmilling" your arms is for Raynauds sufferers but helps get the blood to the hands for me - and my arms are a long way away from my heart.

I was thinking more outside of the box
I find direct heat from a fire the best way of warming up my hands
so if you were static this would have been suitable

how ever as you will be moving around it would be diffcult to move around with you, then it struck me what you need is a mobile Braizer luckily there is a design out already and you can get it from most supermarkets

start your fire in this and take it around with you

Make sure you get one with a brake as being chased down the hill by a burning shopping trolley isn't as much fun as it sounds unless your pretending to be a Gladiator then it classed as training.

Oh Piskie, that would have been great! how about next year?
The course was fab last year - hence doing this one, even get to 'snip' at their very old and very lovely orchard trees - I'm so excited.

I suffer from Raynauds syndrome as well Headfry, the specialist I saw years ago said, drink whisky or brandy, take tablets to thin the blood or move to Florida! Not much use to you unless you can take a hipflask with you! The only things I've found which help have already been mentioned in that wearing layers to keep you warm in general & wearing at least two pairs of socks is a good idea, also try to keep moving if only walking up & down on the spot as standing still makes it worse.

We have a beautiful, but cold slate floor at work. I always make sure my feet ( in boots and socks of course!! ) are on a small piece of carpet to keep the cold out of my digits!

                          It was sooooooooooo cold!
We were outside all day (apart form lunch) blizzards and all
My fingers got so bad that they were still sore when I went to bed.
                          But.......
It was brilliant- so much to learn, and what a lovely way to spend the day. I will be back on another pruning course next year! counting the days.
