Wind Damage

HI All

Has anyone also suffered from the wind today? My Plastic green house was on the floor when I came home and a smaller one had travelled some distance, not sure its that damaged.

I cant even think about the state of my Allotment - I am keeping my fingers crossed for my Broad Beans and Shed

We lost the roof at work....luckly I wasn't there I was on a disaster recovery exercise.
Another of our buildings lost its power.
My sister lost half her roof.
I lost two fence pannels and two trees in the road just up form our house.

I used to get trouble with the wind,but gripe water and laying of the beans keeps the blazing saddles syndrome at bay.............

My concern was the plot and OH went to check everything was ok. The trampoline we have down there had completely lifted and gone over and all ripped. The brick wall at my daughters school came down and a large tree at my sons school came down too. Lots of roads closed around the outskirts of Coventry today on way home from work.

We lost four roof panels and all the ridge tiles off the roof at work! Oh dear, it's raining! Hope it doesnt rain too much tonight or else I'll be going to work in my waterproof and wellies tomorrow!

Nipped down to the lottie en route home - my shed had moved a couple of inches but managed to put it back - unfortunately a couple of people near the entrance with their brand new sheds werent that lucky. One had come complete off its base (but at least it was in one piece!) not like the one closed to the gate - separate panels were plastered across the fence - a definate rebuilding job.

I rang and left a message with the Chairman of the Society in the hope he could contact whoever they belong to.

I nearly had a heart attack when I came home from work today cos 2 police cars came belting past me then I saw them turn down my road! When I got down to my place I saw a fire damaged garage roof had been blown about, causing the wall to fall down all over the road. Bricks were on our drive, don't know how OH's car remained unscathed but it did.
Took some bags of compost down the lottie and was relieved to find that everything there was fine - phew! Luckily its a fairly sheltered plot so the broad beans are ok but peas looking very sorry for themselves!

2.5 hours to get home this evening (normally only 40 mins) due to trees blown down & lorries blown over. Fingers crossed the shed on the lottie will be OK, but can't get down there until saturday. Still, can't complain - someone was killed near here today because of the wind

3 hours to come home 35 miles tonight, M6 shut, gridlock everywhere, Lymm (5 mins down the road) has no power, trees down and not fun, but no damage at home! Wont be able to get to the plot until the weekend (or possibly tomorrow if I can skive off early! ), but did loose all my exterior promo posters and all the perspex that holds them in today at work, electric went off 7 times (no fun rebooting all the systems every 15 mins!), plus we had the automatic doors blown off their runners, fortunately have a couple of strong staff who were able to lift them back on! Ah well, at least no injuries, tho Mr D was getting worried about how late I was!

Its stopped blowing here but 100 000 east mids homes are apparently without power.

I was on my exercise and all the phones started ringing...saying the roof had gone.

Luckly I have my staff well trained, none of them were hurt cos they had buggered off home early cos I was out of the office....he he......when I phoned them they all said they were worried by the wind and made a H&S decision to leave cos they thought it was not safe......

Yes, people were killed in the storms today. My heart goes out to their families. Insurance companies take care of sheds. Hope all grapes are OK. Damage to material property can be be expensive and inconvenient, but I can't put a damaged shed before human life. Don't want to be unsympathetic to those who have suffered a great deal of expnese and inconvenience. but hope you understand what I am saying. I do hope everyone is safe and sound. It's all that matters.

It has quitened down at last! Been blowing a holligan all day Not much damage though, lost one shutter and my newest hurdle is looking a bit wonky!
No trees down that I know of but lots of bits and peices lying around.

Not my day at all - 1 the car refused to start and then had to spend an hour holding the bonnet up so that it didn't decapitate th mechanic. All to no avail.
2 The shutter blew off. 3 plugged in the mixer and the plug exploded

Think its time I went to bed, it will be better tomorrow, I hope!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Alice

I understand you completly. I took one look at my damage and I was upset but then I thought no one was hurt and I can buy new, been watching sky news and was hearing about the people who was killed by trees.
