If you want to spend a bit of times in the gardens later in the year would be better .

There was a notice on the counter about Webbs loyalty cards that said if you have one during the month of Febuary 10% discount until the merger is complete in March....jacob

FOUND ON KITCHEN GARDEN WEB SITE

          JUST IN THE KG OFFICES:

The painfully slow recovery from recession has forced organisers to postpone next month’s (March 19-21) Edible Garden Show following concerns among potential sponsors and exhibitors over the uncertain economy.

The first-ever national event dedicated exclusively to ‘Grow Your Own’ fruit and vegetables was targeted to reflect the phenomenal explosion of interest among the public for home-grown produce and healthy eating. Although the imaginative concept for the new show had been well received, organisers found increasing difficulty in securing commitment from enough exhibitors to justify the scheduled launch on Friday, March 19, 2010.

The Edible Garden Show will now debut on March 18-20, 2011 at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, with organisers confident that the new date will allow time to maximise the number of exhibitors attending and to secure sponsorship deals.

Does anyone know of an alternative show.

OK, so it looks like the "veggie" show is OFF, not good! I've got to tell a 3 year old she can't go and visit the chickens.

Does anyone know of a similar type of "show in March" (time off work already booked) or a veg garden/small holder/chicken "place" we could visit as a day trip?

We were actually going for the chickens (and maybe the home brew stands).

They are missing a trick IMO. More people will be "growing their own" this year. possibly because of the recession, but more likely because it is fashionable and in all the media at the mo.
They could well have moved on to another passing fancy by this time next year.

Is there a petting farm near you? We've got a lovely one - we go every spring to pat the lambs and calves, and see the chickens (and see the incubation room: if you're very lucky you can see eggs hatching)

Glad I saw this thread. Not had a peep from the organisers and I'm supposed to be on the E-mail newsletter thingy.

                        What a pisser.!
I have a poster up at work about t his, and we are a public gardens.
Need to let pals know about this cancellation. To be honest i was gobsmacked at the admission charges they wanted.

So I have pre-booked Gardeners World live 2010 already.

Does anyone think that the timing in March isn't good for an edible gardening show and also has there been adequate publicity?

Is a shame they have cancelled - we already had our tickets but maybe the weather deterred people from buying in advance.

In the day of celebrity maybe they also needed a celebrity gardener to be there.

I thought that the March time was very good as it wasn't too late in the season to take on board ideas from the show. I loved the idea that it was just edible and felt that it would be much more appropriate for me that the GW show which last year I found to be very superficial without much that would interest the serious gardener (lots of pretty pink wellies etc but not many good quality tools ). Re the publicity, it's been in every gardening mag I've bought for the last few months and I've seen a few online competitions to win tickets to go but do think that they could have been better with their newsletters etc.

There is another thread somewhere, no doubt the mods will merge (they like the power of that, so I'm told.............)
