Bonfire Night- how are you celebrating??

Tonight we are going round to a friends' with about 20 other peeps for fireworks and nosh and a natter.

Saturday we'll be back in the UK - and have family coming over for sparklers- and watching the Round Table firework display. We always have hotpot and pickled red cabbage and beetroot, parkin and treacle toffee!

..boy do I enjoy our traditional family get-togethers!!

OH and I will be having some fireworks at our new house - just small quiet ones (we've only got a little garden and i don't like bangy ones). I usually do hotdogs and soup to go with it. These will be our last fireworks though, coz hopefully we'll have three chooks by next Bonfire Night.

I'd somehow managed to forget until I was in town!Picked up a couple of packs of sparklers for the kiddies & I might try talking Andi into a bonfire tea at the lottie...don't fancy my luck though!
We usually have a big get together at our friends the weekend after but due to other circumstances it's not happening this year...shame as it's always a good night with lots of shared bonfire treats.

I live in a flat so I'm a bit limited in how I can celebrate. I'll be standing in my kitchen in the dark watching everyone elses fireworks, its saves me a fortune.

We won't be be doing anything though the kids are off to a bonfire party at the weekend.

Technically you can play Texas Hold'em with 21 players and just 1 pack of cards.
Although 9 is the usual size, we will be playing 2 games, where players are knocked out until 9 remain and then they join together to form the final table.

With a 9 month old baby, we'll be sitting in and listening out for the big banger that wakes him up.

He'll sleep through I'm sure.

It's our anniversary tomorrow, so we're going out (just the two of us ) to the local pub for burger and a pint(s), well, LadyWayne'll probably have a couple of glasses of Sauvignon Blanc. Brother-in-law and girlfriend have kindly offered to babysit.

I'm really looking forward to taking Bean next year - they usually have some good shows round here, and the village lower school puts on a good display and grub.

Like many pet owners, I can't stand noisy fireworks because it freaks out the cats.

Like Bex, though, I'll be watching the pretty ones from inside. The big council display in Pipe Hayes Park is free again this year, and is extremely popular - I'd much prefer people going to those than having their own fireworks. Bah!

[SIZE="3"]I was just wondering. What is there to 'celebrate' about 5th November? I know, I know about Guy Fawkes and all that but why should we celebrate the fact that he tried to blow up the houses of parliament and failed.

We moved here 10 years today so on Saturday having 8 close neighbour/friends for a non-fireworks night, (farmers, horseowners and we're antis as well) so we are having sparklers

Well its raining here so that's put a damper on things, but we'll go watch the village fireworks if its not been cancelled.

I totally agree.The thing that gets me is you hear people moaning about paying to go to a proffessional display,yet they then go out & spend twice as much on far inferior fireworks for their garden.
I'd celebrate the day that the sales of fireworks were restricted to planned,properly supervised events.
