Its best to dig a trench in Autumn then over winter fill it with all the stuff you would normall compost. Then cover it with cardboard and sherdded paper to keep the water in then water it lots. Fill in the trench and plant you beans.

    It keeps the roots wet.

They do indeed. Once planted they are a blighter to get rid off and as they grow about 6' tall, watch where you plant them.

Better not feed too many to OH then!

Be interesting to see if they grow that tall up here! Not aware of anyone up here growing them, but having said that never discussed them with anyone either. I've got a 1/4 acre field, which I am only using a small bit of at the moment, so will be able to find a place for them.

Aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn't know that so it goes on flying anyway.

Oh No!!! Another thing to add to Mr MB's repertoire
We have jerusalem artichokes from a neighbouring lottie. Mr MB has a problem with beans, beer, eggs, cheese - most things, Dare I let him try Jersalem Artichokes??

There is an upside - it sounds quite posh to be able to say "...... it was the artichokes that made me fart", rather than the sprouts.

Sure do put them in a stew when you have guests round and make sure they get loads in their portion.

I am soon to be ordering 100 tubers of the JA's so can send ten or a dozen your way when they arrive.
If you or others can't wait, try Moles Seeds who sell 25 tubers for 5.40 or Edwin Tuckers who sell them at 2/kg (not sure how many you get in a kilo though )

Mr D enjoyed it so much that he's now lifted his ban on buying more seeds etc, as he wants some of the Ferusalem Artichokes, I think his reasoning is that he wants to try the posh 'chips'!

I was keen on getting some Jerusalem Articokes too after seeing the programme but on hearing on another post that they make you fart I'm not letting OH near them!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
