    Anyone gone HD?

My TV is HD ready - I'd like to get it HD'd for SD before he comes back, sort of welcome home present (as if I'm not enough eh!) because whilst I like playing in the garden, he likes sitting with beer in hand watching TV.

    Anyone got it?
    Is it worth it?
Do I need anything else other than the TV and to pay Sky tons more dosh?

I think that's it. Just pay more dosh. Mind you there don't seem to be very many HD channels so not sure it's worth it....

Hi Suzie, you need an HD box (on offer at £49 I think at the moment) and to subscribe to HD channels (£10 month) The Sky installer would have to run a new cable from your dish to the HD box as HD requires a dual cable. Other than that get an HDMI lead and away to go. As for value, personally I think there is a huge difference in picture quality, especially when watching live sports.

Alice asked a similar question a couple of weeks ago. We had it with Freesat and to be honest, I don't know what all the fuss is about.

Its one of the few things that we do treat ourselves to, and when watching something in hd you really can tell the difference! Watching any nature programme or film in hd is brilliant, gw does look great too!
                  so it's your bl@@dy fault!!!!!!

Personally, I can see a difference on the HD if there is animal fur or birds or stuff, but overall (probably due to my eyesight) there is not a huge difference.

Just to reiterate, you won't notice a big difference on anything smaller than a 32" TV. Although I think HD handles motion blur (as in sports) much better.

That's interesting Capsid, is that a commonly held view? One of the reasons (besides the money one!) for not yet updating our crt tv is the way sport/motion is handled.

Well I was comparing standard definition to high definition on LCDS and plasmas. A CRT is better than either for motion blur.
