I like Nigel Slater too, I've got a few of his 'Real Fast' books & a couple of his other more narrative books. He doesn't faff about for hours twiddling with little bits, just cooks it & serves it!

...just a shame the featured recipes mostly seem to contain cream or butter (apart from his allotment soup) - I'm on Weight Watchers here people!!

That allotment soup looked so yummy, I liked the way he let the veg do the flavoring and not a stock cube, I'm doing my own version this Saturday with crusty bread.

I just took a look at his online recipes. Call me a phillistine if you like but I get annoyed when writers assume I know what orecchiette is!

It's pasta by the way but I had to look it up!

                    Forgot!
                    So I I-Playered it!

You were great kid! BTW, a friend brought me a lavender-flower-coated goat's cheese a couple of years back. I think it was from the Yorkshire Lavender place. So he's right, they do go VERY well together!

We saw it across the channel....thank god for Sky! Him 'indoors' said 'oh no, not another cookery programme!' Although he prefers Nigella, but I'm more of a Jean-Christophe Novelli fan!! Saying that, we do like Nigel's style of cooking as it's more in tune with our lifestyle! Excellent goats cheese & tomato recipe...love the lavender. We were well impressed with your garden Shortie...well done!
