Bite/ Blister

I am off to the docs in a mo as I have been bitten on my leg and it has turned into a nasty blister. Has anyone else had this happen. Does anybody know why this has happened.

I think it is an allergic reaction to whatever bit you. My mum used to get huge blisters if she was bitten by horseflies.

I had one on my ankle turn really nasty. There was a blister and my whole lower leg was red, swollen and hot. I went to the Doctor and she said (**clears throat for Scottish accent**) 'Och aye, you've got a wee bit of a germ in there haven't you'...

...a wee bit of a germ?? My legs about to fall off isn't it!!?? (No, I didn't actually say that to her). Anyway, a quick course of antibiotics and it was all sorted. I'm sure you'll be fine, good luck at the Docs.

Ouch..i react like that to midge, flee bit's , i always have some antihistamines (allergy tablets) in, usually dose the trick...but your doing the safest thing going to the Drs, can't be too careful.

I had a bite on my ankle that was itching like crazy, morbidly I squeezed it and some clear fluid oozed out, put some TCP on it and tried to forget about it. Later on had a sneaky look and the thing had turned black showed it to OH (her wus factor is in the high 9's) she turned a lovely puce type colour and started to google on ankle amputations when I cleaned it off with some more TCP only to find that the black was the fibre from my new socks . Hope yours get better - when are you due for a tetanus

I've started to become really allergic to mozzie bites in recent years and instead of getting the usual nettle rah type itchy blister they starten to get large and quite painful. This year has been the worst so far and in the past couple of weeks I've had a hand that swelled to look like a boxing glove (this is not an exaggeration), a swollen upper arm and swollen leg (right behind the knee, try walking properly when that happens!!!). I'm now so full of antihistamine I can barely keep my eyes open, but the alternative is to stay indoors, especially in the evenings, and that's not happening while ever I have my lovely chooks to play with...um...I mean care for.

My OH has had some nasty bites. He was moaning and scratching and grumbling so I made him show me. The area around the bites were purple and around the size of a 10p piece. I had to virtually force him to buy some antihistamines, but thankfully they are going down now.
I've never seen them like that on him, and guessed he had a reaction to whatever bit him.

My visit was to see the nurse as couldnt get to see doc, It was caused by a bite that has been infected but she said not to squeeze it and to stop the itching to take antihistamines. Taken one and it has stopped itching.

Bluemoon my third som used to get like that when stung by nettles but antihistamines worked with him. He used to find the one and only nettle wherever we went, and would swell up like a balloon and the spot would look like a chickenpox spot with a head on it and last for weeks.

Horseflies and Mozzies regularly do it to me - I generally burst it, whack in some Fucibet (my antibiotic/steriod eczema cream) and then cover with a plaster until it dries. It generally works - Tea tree oil is meant to be good for use in similar situations but I'm allergic to that too

Both my daughter and I react badly to almost anything that bites or stings, we find that E45 Hydrocortisone cream helps to stop the swelling and irritation, you can also take anthistamines to help as well. Even mini midges do it to me, when everyone else can spend a warm evening, ( though we haven't had many of those here, it's like winter today again) dressed in short sleeved tops, or less, I'm zipped up to my eyeballs to keep the beggars at bay, even then I get bitten on my scalp. I must be bad meat I reckon!

Andi had the same reaction earlier in the year.He got bitten by a horsefly,reacted badly to it & did his usual swelling thing.Whilst it was swollen he brushed up against a stinging nettle which caused it to blister!
By the time I persuaded him to go to the docs the swelling had started to go down,so she said no need for antibiotics but advised antihistamine and she put an iodine dressing on it.
