Getting "work" at the allotment sounds good. Offer to collect slugs or weeds and I'm sure you';d have a few takers. Negoiate a per slug price.

Or make your back garden wildlife friendly and sell any excess good guys to them. What's the going rate for 10 ladybird larvae?

Or, use the collection only ebay trick to get your bf something good, but cheap. It's generally local big stuff that's not practical to post, that provides the best bargains.

gym stuff, fish tanks, golf clubs, furniture, ponds, piano's etc. Admitedly, not all would be suitable but you get the idea. I have a search I do weekly for collection only stuff and all sorts of things turn up.

Little girl over the road used to make me cakes......probally explain why I am diabetic now...but I used to pay her �3.5 - �5 a cake. Ovbiously you will have to pay mum for the ingreadents.
