look at it this way, at least next year when peeps say what did you do on your birthday last year? you can always say........

I was driving home happily on the motorway thinking about my birthday prezzi`s and tea my hubby was making, when a driver in the other lane lost control of his car skidded into my lane and i couldnt avoid him, he skittled me through all the traffic cones on the hard shoulder ! they were flying all over ! yes i know i was injured but if you saw the car you wouldnt believe how lucky i was.

Blimey Louise, sounds a bit nasty. Hope you are ok.

We are also planning a different vehicle come Christmas as my car goes back as it is leased; and my OH wants a new one so we are getting a run around that can take lots of abuse [wood abuse, and mud abuse from taking stuff to and from lottie] and a better one for actual trips to people's offices and up and down the M1 etc...so he is researching them all at the moment.

            Stop it you two!!!

Landrover type thingy is top of the list at the moment....but a Navara is too pricey if I'm paying for one [as I am a tightwad as you know]...

My father in law had a Navara as a company car, he really liked it, but did say if it hadnt been a company car he wouldnt have bought one as they are expensive to maintain ! but then he opted out of the scheme and bought a flashy Land Rover discovery, which does now cost him an arm and a leg to run and maintain !!!!!!, strange man

Check out the Fusion, they really are good cars - we regularly put loads of wood in ours, they have split back seats which is handy and they seem pretty reliable.

Toyota Hilux; had one of those years ago when I worked on site; it was tough and basic, I'll give it that. What with all these construction companies going under perhaps I'll be able to bag a deal.....loved mine.

I have an Astra, 1.6 engine, petrol.

Given that my last car was a Ka (1.3), this feels pretty big to me and its a little dearer to run. I have decent boot space, to me it feels like a saloon but is still classed as a hatchback.
Reasonable leg room in the back for the kids/dog. Can get masses in it with the seats down.

Put mine on Autotrader last night, received a call this lunch time - some dude (also called Wayne) wants to come and have a look at it.

Hopefully wont take too long to sell, then I go looking for its replacement...

Autotrader,i worked for them many moons ago.I have a diesel mondeo 03 estate, its a lovely comfortable car,we pick our wood up for the log burner, tow the caravan etc.So sorry to hear about yours, but glad that you are alright! The mondeo is so nice that my husband has decided to drive it to work instead of using the yaris. The difference in fuel consumption is negligible.

Whatever you do don't buy a renault! They look good come with lots of nice electrical gadegets - great when they work but a nightmare when they all go wrong one by one, then the turbo blows up!!!!!
If you go for a Mondeo then make sure it is not one of the new Diesel engines ST220 things (not technical) as we have one as a company car for everyday that it runs then it spends 2 in the gagage - they are not liked by the mechanics one little bit. I think they came in about 2004 ish....

Hope you are alright after your crash!

Its funny you should say that re renault as i did have my heart set on a laguna sports tourer, it ticked all the right boxes, for what i need, so i texted my uncle who has a repair garage and his reply " i dont like um" then i went on what car and looked at reviews and it was shocking ! so im so glad i didnt buy it, as i do 600 miles a week and the last thing i want is to spend most of it on the hard shoulder waiting for the RAC !
