  • Courgette Glut

Good job I have got the ' What will I do with all those Courgettes' book, as I have three yellow plants each with at least nine baby courgettes on them, plus three green bush plants coming along nicely.

I found last year that my yellow ones were the most prolific, am growing a few different shapes this year so will be interested to see how they do.

Last year I only had green ones so this year I thought I would have yellow as well. made loads of chutney last year, but that was before I got the book.

The yellow ones are great pickled...in fact makes for a pretty jar if you use both yellow & green!

one of my favourite courgette ways is slice them with potato peeler (ribbons) then fry and serve with eggs and bacon - lovely breakfast

Is there still hope for my one Gold Rush courgette? The only one to survive, it has yet to produce a single flower! I can only think it must be the cold nights that have held it back - and killed the others - only in the last 10 days have we had reasonable night time temperatures.

Anna - I have 3 or it could be 4 gold rushes on the go and even down here have only had 2 teeny tiny baby courgettes from the first one. But last night I took a peek and they are starting to kick in now - still don't expect any for a week or two, but when they do kick in and I have a glut - we have this....you can have yellow and/or green courgettes to make it....

I nearly bought some courgettes at the market last week- cos I really fancied some- and then suddenly realised I've got about 10 plants growing at home ....bet within 4 weeks I'll be looking forward to something else for a change!!!!

I think there will be a lot piled up at the roadside outside my house ..'free to good home'

Thanks Zazen. I shall visualise making the soup - which sounds lovely, by the way - that should bring on the little wonders!
