    Orkney is rather proud of its corncrakes. They usually stop calling about July and head south in early August, so a corncrake calling in September got the RSPB man all excited, until the smartarse starling flew up on a fence post and repeated the imitation<g>
    A neighbour there also had one nesting in his barn which imitated the sound of the door opening.
    Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

      Saw swifts for the first time today while at the lottie, saw first swallows this year on April 8th. We had a blackbird who imitated a phone, my neighbour wondered why the phone only rang once each time! There is also a blackbird near the lottie who imitates that noise lorries make when they are reversing.
