I know what you mean Adam, thats why I've had to go back to it now as I didn't do too well at school. The kids are older now and more of my time is my own. So I've got the OU and now my lottie.

Some OU messageboards are really friendly, but others can get kinda heated. I haven't had the need to moderate messages in Radio 4 or Ambridge. The gardening one should be ok as well. Met some really nice peeps though through getting active in the association - even went to Conference (too cliquey now), and did Summer Schools. There can be a tight-knit circle which is hard to break - the executive committee for one (with mini circles within).Originally posted by Bex View PostHi Multiveg,
I'm starting DD122 next month and W100 in Feb, hopefully get a Law degree. I don't really go onto the OU messageboards that often, found some of them a bit unfriendly, not like here. Just had my timed tma for DD121. Are you going to carry on with the OU?
I've been studying since 1996, got me improved degree, now just keeping brain ticking over.

I neglected the plot this year to get my assignments in. The course was a bit much really, but glad I managed to finish it.

Adam you reminded me of my years as a student (um, er, 1980s - early
1980s!) yep, getting drunk and socialising were my favourite topics - luckily in those days it was OK and I ended up with a 2:2!

Someone mentioned a study they did as part of an OU course - they wanted to see if they were served differently in a pub by barmaids and barman - guess they had to consume quite a bit of drink and go to several pubs to get a big enough sample to work with.

Wll done Bex. I did OU for years! Met some great people and had some great fun at summer school, but ........ the problem with OU is the educational year - studying through the summer and the exam result flopping onto the mat on Christmas Eve! Or have tghey got any better?
It was D108 when I started (1980 something!).~

Jennie, what letter then is the start of your PI? Can you still remember it!?
Thoroughly enjoyed Summer Schools. Nottingham campus was good, better than York. I'm a P, having started in 1996.
Results - we can now get them online. We can run closer to T*A deadlines now without having to worry about posting, getting proof of posting, etc - we can submit online.
Also, they've introduced different start dates, rather than just in Feb. May and November are common starting months, though not yet available for all courses.
The lovely Betty Boothroyd is no longer OU Chancellor - another person has been appointed but I have forgotten his name (news on the OU website).

Do you remember the time OU won University Challenge. Think the team had very high score, and also an elderly person (seventies or eighties?) on the team who managed to answer one question the others couldn't.
