I HATE netting staples! grrrrrr!

Push them through a strip of cardboard and use this as a holder.

Staples are too powsh for me anyway..........I just use bent over nails!

I tried nails first, but I can't bang them in straight (or bent )
Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I feel a bit blonde now - the pliers are so obvious - but I'm glad I asked rather than struggle on with black fingernails.

The pliers were only obvious to me AFTER I had bashed my fingers several times putting up wire for the clematis.
