Where is your plot?

Mine is on a south facing (rather steep) hill backing onto gardens on 2 sides, a park on the third and a 'natural' area on the fourth side. You can see for miles but it also means that the wind can play havoc with anything not securely attached - and my poor courgette plants last summer were snapped off just as they started fruiting

Mines a half acre patch that I've adopted at my Folks' place. Large Conifer hedge to the south giving shade to quite a bit in the summer . Open fields to the north where the wind blows furiously . Fencing and shrubbery needed before I can cultivate anything other than spuds, roots and brassicas, and that's if I can get a fork in the flippin' clay.

Luckily I've also adopted their south-facing veg. garden the other side of the conifers for this year to get me started I think they're planning to be away a lot this year, so won't be using it.

I just need to get some work in to pay for proper fox-proof Chook fencing so the 'Laydees' can go out there and have a huge run. Rabbit-proof fencing for the veggie bit, and some windbreak planting! Not much, really lol

I have a pet hate of the dreaded Leylandii hedge, especially on clay. Comes of working with a Surveyor, and seeing how few are kept under control, and how much damage they can do near an old house.....

We just get a million ash seedlings that tend not to be noticed until they are too big to be easily removed.........

Mine's a fairly ordinary back garden running roughly west from the house, so the orientation's good, and at 60' x 30', it's quite large for a small, two-bedroom council-house garden. The house dates from the early 50s, and has a mature apple tree in it, which is currently being threatened by the ivy growing up a tree in a garden that backs on to mine. Otherwise, it's not a bad location, though I wish my neighbour to the south had an open fence - the solid fence casts too much shade.
The front garden is 15' x 22', and the road I live on is a fairly quiet residential one. No great views, therefore, but not bad.

my 2 plots are 5 min drive or 15 min walk from our house near the center of cardiff,it is very peaceful and quiet and we get a great deal of pleasure from our plots,we spend as much of our spare time as possible there so have well equipped ourselves with cooker (with an oven) and a fridge (both gas) for a cup of tea for the wifey and friends in adjacent plots and cold drinks and ice creams for me,including a nice cold beer,even got a kitchen sink to wash up those dinner dishes!

mine's by a river!!! But no trout, just coarse fish (the kind that swear at you when you try to catch them) "Oy! " they say "B***** off you, leave me alone."

Mines my huge back garden, next to the village football pitch on the edge of the village.
nice and quiet except for Sundays when they turn up to play football.

Mine's by a fairly main road on one side (through a hedge) which has the advantage of making it easy to get to, even on the bus route a couple of miles from outside my house. There are 10 plots, 5 on each side of a track. The ones on the opposite side of the track from mine back onto a canal so you see boats going past all day as well as lots of people walking / cycling past on the canal path. The other side is an old petrol garage which has been empty for years but has now unfortunatley been taken over by a car washing company which has somewhat spoiled the peace and quiet but I still find it pretty tranquil.
