                I've not found ANYTHING that 42 answers.....perhaps that's its secret?

                        If you listen to the original radio series the monkey pulls out the numbers (if I remember correctly) 6 * 9 rather than 6 * 7 so maybe the number we are all looking for is (checks calculator) 54????

                            The film version it was 7 x 9, so should have been 63.
