Can I re use old compost in Containers?

Does anyone know if it's OK to re use the compost from last year tomato containers. I want to grow potatoes but as they are the same species will I get problems?
I've grown a lot of veg in containers, but last year was very bad for my toms.
I live in hope for this summer

Any advice gratefully received?

Maybe if you add it to your compost bins??? Other more knowledgeable grapes would be able to help you more

No ... as Claire says, compost it put it in your compost bin or on a heap and it will be great in the summer ... but with compost so cheap (relatively) it's not worth spoiling your spuds. My Toms did Cr@p last year as did many peoples, better this year we hope.

I really wouldn't risk it, not with the amount of disease we had last year - it would be heart-breaking for you to have them succumb to a disease - a whole year's crop wasted.

You might be OK using it for some totally unrelated species, beans or brassicas, maybe even carrots, but CERTAINLY NOT for spuds
