Wanted knitting knowledge

Pootle, how would I know what size needle I needed? we have double knit wool and we both usually use size 4 needles (I dont know why she does but for me its the only size I have) What is a dpns?
I might even have a go myself with a circular needle.

Birdie wife, both our crochet skills are even worse than our knitting skills, I can do streght line! lol.

Sorry! Had my knitting head on! DPN = double pointed needles, used for knitting things in the round like socks and hats...If you haven't knitted circular things before its less fiddly using a circular needle. Have you chosen a pattern? If so, I'll have a look at it and see if I have matching needles...

US size 8 are UK old size 6 or a 5mm needle. That indicates that the wool used should be aran weight. These should knit up quite quickly.
