How Much??!!

I have just got back from taking Mr T to the airport. He has had to fly back as his father is very ill. Usually the flight costs �50 - we had to pay �238 Just because we had to book 2 hours before it took off. I thought last minute booking were meant to be cheaper
I don't suppose it will bother him but, Mr O'Leary, How do you sleep?

Don't go there!! My OH's Dad died suddenly back in May, and as my in-laws lived in Spain at the time OH and his brother and sister had to get out there straight away because otherwise MIL would have been on her own. The company they wanted to get flights from at first said they couldn't give them flights till the next day but when pressed (think BIL used some strong language) got them on a flight that afternoon, but it cost loads more than if they had booked beforehand.

Hmm...my OH had to be back in Manchester for a court case and did the 2 hr drive to Rennes airport , waited for the flight only to be told that 'Flymaybe' (!) had canceled the flight..next one was the following day which would have meant missing the court appearance. Alternative was to drive 5 hrs to Paris and take a flight from there for �600 SINGLE!!!!!

Fortunately it was a Monday.....
There are flights on a Monday and a Friday only from Montpellier to Stansted (in-laws are in Cambridge) otherwise the only flights are from Toulouse to Gatwick.
Montpellier is 1 3/4hrs away, Toulouse is 3hrs away and Gatwick 3hrs from the in-laws.
(both BA and Ryanair run the same route at Toulouse, BA �200, Ryanair �70 - answers on a postcard please!)
