Metal Shed

Hi all,

I am thinking of buying a metal shed for my allotment. Does anyone out there have one? The one I was thinking about does not have a base and being on a budget I did not want to pay extra for one. Could I just put it on the earth and if so how would I anchor it or should I think about concrete or slabs and again how would I anchor it. I would appreciate any advise on this as I would like to get everything sorted before I go to any expense. Thanks in advance.

you might get a free shed off of here!!! wood sheds, good for sheltering in, having a brew in, metal always sounds so cold.......

One of the plots on our site have a metal shed the chap made it from sort of corregated sheets no windows, it looks ok but I wouldnt like it.

Don't fancy metal shed's to much condensation is the problem every thing go's rusty....jacob

i would not have a metal one either,freezer in winter,kiln in summer,also one with no floor,mmm,would be all to easy for a would be help yourself body to get access,and what about the strong winds we get.

They are really noisy inside if it rains and deafening in hail. They are also very prone to condesation.

But so saying, I've got a 15'x10' one at the lotties waiting to be put up. I'll be insulating it for the noise etc. (Says he, it's been waiting a year now waiting for me to erect it)

I've put one of these horrors up They leak like a colander (sp?) Had to try and reseal using gaffer tape, "no more nails" and silicon bathroom sealant. Put it up for a friend, she now wisely has a wooden shed. The metal shed was anchored using massive screws and a masonary drill. Screwed straight into slabs.

If it's one from Homebase or similar, forget it. I bought one for storage at my field, years ago. Because they're displayed high up, I couldn't actually examine it properly until it arrived and I was appalled at the flimsiness - no way would it have held up in a windy plot/garden. There were bits missing, too (the assembly instructions, for one!). Homebase tried to say it was a non-returnable item and I ended up going through Trading Standards to get my money back. They STILL gave me hassle at the store and I've never shopped at that store since!
