    I love Beechgrove
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs! https://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gr...lies/smile.gif

Always interesting to see how tricky it is to grow stuff in the wilder parts of Scotland.

Trouble is, when they plant/sow something that I've forgotten it means that in my part of the world I'm about 4 weeks late!

I remember a really cheeky parody in the 80s/90s by Gregor Fisher and another chap whose name I can't remember. See link:

It's more like mine too at least maybe only a week or two behind anyway, not like the tropical climate of Longmeadow (even though geographically Monty's much closer to home).

I was interested to hear the observation on peat-free that they'd noticed the top being dry but the lower levels still being saturated then vice versa as the plant grows. I'm rethinking my usual 'finger test' for watering this year - I wonder if poking deeper into the pots with a wooden skewer or a lolly stick might give a better indicator?

OH is eagerly awaiting George's tips on spud planting next/this week
