I'm just being told on a business forum that 31 Dec has a leap second in it and so that is the longest day

He very kindly pasted a link to the info but it scared me too much so here it is if you wish to view - please do let me know when you have read and understood and can translate into Piskie speak

i'll try, slap me if i get it wrong.
a day is 24 hours, but they are adding a leap second on the 31st, cos a year isn't exactly 365 days, its 2 1/2 days short in every 4 years, hence the 'leap year'
but even that is not exact so every now and then, i don't know how often they have to add a leap 'second' to keep the Mighty Cosmic Clock exact.

shortest day, is , least amount of daylight in 24 hours.
longest day, most amount of daylight in 24 hours.
leap second is.............no one really cares other than people that have nothing better to do that check that the clock is totally 'right'
