Bloody Hell Lynda, it don't just rain where you are does it. I Know nothing about council housing etc so am not able to help (I could clear a stable for you though ). Squashysu's sentiments are totally agreed with in my direction but it would have to be a bloody big Christmas tree

lynda , I know how you feel we get the same thing every year from our council where the calculations get messed up and we end up having to pay some back . If the council are taking a certain amount of your rent benifit back as over payment so you are paying more money out each week for your rent then phone them and ask if the amount can be reduced as it is affecting your standard of living , they did it for me by �10 a week so it gave a bit of room for manover.
Taking you to court will be there last solution as it takes time and money , and as long as your part of the rent was paid on time and to the correct amount then the judge will normally be on your side but you will still get court costs.
Depending on how much trouble you are in with money depends on what you can do ?

A - make your self bankrupt , your need debt of at least �13000 to do this and there are lots of conditions attached but not to bad as i did it my self 6 years ago.

B - Debt agency , if you can't go bankrupt but need help to clear big debts then this could be away for you as the money is controlled by them and your creditors are payed before you get your money , we are currently with GREGORY PENINGTON and have three month left of a 2 and a half year dept repayment.

C - Pay the debts with the help of the cab - this is the easiest but requires you to manage your money well and pay them on time.

i'm already on money saving expert and the consumer forums, and i just remembered the housing have a group called supporting people, who help with this kind of stuff ..... and despite having used them before i forgot about them lol ....... i have a phone number,somewhere, so i'll ring them monday, easier than cab too, as they come to the house ..... i'll be ok, and i will get it sorted, was just having a bad day yesterday, and it was a bit of a shock

Lynda I do feel for you, hell at the best of times, but always seems worse with christmas just around the corner. Dont give up, we have been in debt but made the bad choice of going to a company that charges for the privillage of helping out but we did manage to pay them each month and they paid our debts. Last year we were in a posistion to remortgage not wise I know but we paid all our debts off, most accepted reduced final payments and the relief is enormous. Yes we have a higher mortgage and yes in the long run it will cost us but we now have spare money ( sometimes ) something we didnt have for a very long time. We dont have store cards, credit cards or anything else only the mortgage now.

Just one thing to add. See your doctor, tell him about loads of mail you can't face opening, and if he will confirm that depression is a likely cause of the problem (I bet it is) then while you MUST read it now, you have a legitimate reason for not having read it before.

the doctors well aware lol, think it was last time i got in a mess and duped a pile of them on her desk and said ......... i need help with these ....... and actually i should have made an appointment last week for some more happy pills, and i forgot so i ran out, ...... needless to say yesterdays letters came just at the wrong time.

Include that infornation when you go to CAB, it WILL help (been there, sort of).

Before my meds i hardly ate now i have problems keeping my feet out the kitchen.
