      Now that really is "trick or treat", like it.

      The kids that knock on our door are very polite. At our last house you'd offer a bowl of sweets and the kids (sometimes teenagers in nothing more than a black bag) would grab handfulls. Not so where we are now - they take one sweet each, and when you say take more they reply "are you sure?", followed by a sincere "thank you". Not a bad little village.

          I ask them to give me a huge burp before I hand out sweets

          I'm in a hamlet of 3 houses here- so I've no idea what to expect this year!

          ( what's French for a burp?????)

              I'd say it all depends if you've bin messing to much with that horse shoe!!

                            Lynda, that is a priceless idea! I'm going to use that one day (don't get trick or treaters on my road - the advantage of living right next to a busy road).
