I'm just tucking into some Chilli Almonds (almonds coated in chocolate with chilli in it). Yummeh!

Sound's yum I'll look out for them I finished off a packet of chilli peanuts t'other night they left a really lovely stinging sensation around the lips.

Lassi was what I was thinking, couldn't remember what it was called.

Mexicans (especially Mayan) use chocolate in their chilli - call em Moles, it deepens the flavour and takes the heat a little too. I loved Mexican food.

      NOSE!!!!

      I spot a nose picker

only joking, I never wear gloves when cutting anything, I can't cook unless i can 'feel' the food, and begger me, if you have been cutting chillies earlier, you can bet you always get an itch where you shouldn't scratch, eyes, nose and 't'other' places.

there are worse things than a burning nose, trust me

If you get chilli burn you should use milk to ease the pain and clear the cause.
if it's your mouth, from eating chillies, or curry, white bread is a remedy, don't ask me why, but holding white bread in your mouth, reduces the heat, hence the chapatti>

A couple of weeks ago I ended up in 'minor injuries' at our local hospital. I had endured 24hrs of burning eyes. They were bloodshot and the lids swollen. Boots the chemist sold me an eye lubricant and that only made things worse. I could'nt see for streaming eyes and burning. The nurse gave them a flushing and prescribed an antibiotic eye cream. Believe you me, I always thought myself a tough nut, but from now on I firmly believe that prevention is better than cure.

I use just the one glove on the hand I'm holding the chillies with and then use a knife to move it about into the pan after one too many nose blowing incidents (I have a Lot of allergies) and some rather sore hands a few Summers ago.

Oh, and NEVER get chilli oil into dermatitis/eczema. Just... don't.

Isn't there a lip plumper that uses chilli oil and its slight swelling effect?

Ollie really, picking your nose while food prepping is downright disgusting, wash your hands first

It was a good half hour afterwards and I did wash my hands.

I think the messages I am getting here are very conflicting.
WARNING!! If you wear gloves please remember that rubbing, scratching wiping and shaking are only advisable after you have removed them.
