I want to wrap myself in cotton wool, and keep me safe!
On Weds I had just finished teaching my first lesson of the day, and was going to get a drink from the staffroom for my free period. As I went out of the door my foot caught in a loose bit of carpet and I fell, caterpaulting myself across the corridor and into the wall the opposite side, knocking myself out!
I don't remember anything else until I heard the anxious tones of my HoD asking if I was OK, and telling me not to move.
A colleague drove me to the hospital, but couldn't get a parking space, so had to leave me on my own. I tried to phone OH on my mobile, but Son no2 had used all my credit
, luckily I had a 20p so used the public phone. He got a taxi to school, picked up the car and came to find me. 3 hours later we left with left wrist bandaged, but not broken, the mother of all headaches, instructions to take the next 2 days off and not to be left alone!
So much for my resolve not to take time off sick this year, I didn't even make it to half term
It's been so frustrating, good weather, not at work, and feeling so lousy I couldn't do a thing.

OH took me to Mum's yesterday, so I didn't get tempted to do anything, and didn't get left on my own. She noticed a bruise on my left jaw, which I hadn't realised was there! Apparently if you pass the 'tests' at the hospital, like being able to touch your nose, not losing strength in legs etc, you don't stay in if there is someone to keep a check on you. We got a head injury checklist, but besides a whopping headache still I'm doing OK.
) Anyway, I put it on Freecycle, someone should be coming to dig it up and take it away at 5.30.
