when you spend ages with a paintbrush putting wood preserver on your chicken house ........ and then you go into the cupboard, and an electric paint sprayer falls out on your foot

forgetting it was one of the 'useful' things your parents gave you when they emigrated..... todays painting could be fun

I'm definitely a 'just in case' person - and my OH is a 'chuck it out' person. It has taken me 4 years to get him to keep leftovers for the next day's food.

The problem is, that unless I threw it out I still think I have it and thus spend ages looking for something that he chucked when we moved...naughty boy.

i've been quite good lately at clearing out stuff .... i hadn't got round to 'the cupboard of doom' yet parents basically brought over everything they weren't taking so i could use it or sell or freecycle it and the boxes all went in hte cupboard .... they only moved a couple of years ago, so i'm doing ok

think i might have to go through it at some point who knows what useful things may be lurking theres probably an old chicken house in there

great just tried it, and i think it's blocked, as not even water comes out of the hole so it's currently in bits soaking in cillit bang ..... hope it doesn't melt

This is clearly a Surrey affliction. Mine hoards rather large items. These include vintage lorries, vintage tractors and transits. I lovingly call his smallholding the 'Brockham Scrapyard'.

We're attempting to turn our spare bedroom (slept in twice a year at most) into a sewing room when I can keep my machine out and have a big worktop for cutting fabric. It means getting a sofa bed which is much more practical than having a massive double bed with under-bed storage drawers. This afternoon we took 4 boxes of stuff to a charity shop. Yes! Most of it's stuff we put there when we moved - 9 years ago. Sadly we are both haorders. Mind you, that's probably why we've kept each other for 38 years!

I'ts a good job I am single, one hoarder is enough, I moved here 13 years ago, and have sworn i will never move again, just because I can't bear the idea of cleaning out the loft of everything i have 'saved just in case', some of it has never been unpacked from the last move

i have an excuse for my loft being full, when i moved in i bought cheap cheerful furniture, which is all being replaced with good stuff as i can afford it, the cheap stuff has all gone up in the loft for when rob gets his first unfurnished place, so theres a sofa bed, coffee table shelf unit, etc etc, he will be able to furnish every room with basic stuff, that he can replace and pass on as and when.

it paid off when he left for uni, he didn't have to buy anything for his room or kitchen. they have enough trouble nowadays affording a place, never mind furnishing it as well.

lol, i never got the nesting instinct ...... my sister came round and cleaned my (what looked clean to me) house while i was in hospital having him .... and threw everything out ...... honestly there was nothing left, i swear she'd have taken my dog and cats to the rspca if she didn't know i'd have ripped her head off.

i did have a bit of an excuse though, i had high blood pressure and had to not move off the sofa, cos my midwife came round twice a day, and shouted if i did anything other than knitting ....... he had about 200 jumpers ..... just to add to the clutter lol.

although being honest there was so much crap in 2 of the rooms, that you couldn't actually get into them
