I am desperately short of sleep (long story) - have tried sleeping pills before, but very much under control (perhaps one tab every 4 months).

However, due to go abroad soon, long flight ... anticipating major sleep probs ... no GP appt available ... so look online to buy sleeping tabs.

they want the quids, cos Nytol don't work for us seriously sleep-deprived bods.
Sleepy tea (valerian, hops) is okay for normal use, but for when I get locked in a cycle of pain-insomnia-pain-insomnia, I need Zopliclone to get me back on track.

My son is prescribed Melatonin to sleep he has 3mg, my mum is a major insomniac and my sis gave her some (she got hers in USA!) she is getting some sleep with them which is good, the only problem is Melatonin is so controlled that we cant even get a repeat prescripton from the GP, we have to have it from the Peadiatric Consultant.

I hope you get some pills TS and get some sleep, I have seen my mum and sis suffer for years, luckily I take after my dad and can sleep on a washing line!

You tried Bach Rescue night formula? I had tried everything, but nothing worked (except far too many drinks!) I use Bach Rescue Remedy for allsorts. neurotic dogs, exam nerves, and even for horses that refuse to be clipped/shod/travelled etc. I'm not a herbal nut, but I'll try anything once, and when I saw this I thought it might work and was worth a try when the daytime stuff works so well. Around �6 from chemist or Boots.

When I had the elbow situation, and was prescribed meg painkillers, I found you could buy them off the shelf and keep some on standby for really bad bouts of pain. Paramol: pain free sleeps for me. Probably only use them 2 or 3 times a year, but they knock me out within 30 mins.

another problem sleeper here...have to take tabs when my cycle becomes seriously out of whack, I have found temazepam the only thing that works and I get that from my GP. I get prescribed 20mg but I have found 10mg plenty to get my cycle back on track. I only use them occasionally now but they are a godsend to have in the house for when I have a few rough nights I can sort myself out. I have taken Paramol when I have very bad period pains and they certainly send me to sleep but I find if I use them for the whole day I have a shocking head ache the next day, which is a side effect of all opioids I think.

I know the horrible feeling when you can't sleep, can't get to the Gp and need some relief. I hope you get it :-)

I'm on Zopiclone which I take a few times a week, wine works at the weekend Glad I get mine on my yearly season ticket 150quid is exhirbitant, never realised they cost so much, if you're really stuck TS I can send you a sheet of them and no I am not a drug dealer

Yes I was! The Zop has left its characteristic bitter taste in my mouth, but I'm not groggy at all.
I feel more relaxed, if not entirely refreshed, for having a full night's shut-eye.

the back pain is still there, the Paramol barely takes the edge off it, but if I am sleeping I can cope with the pain better.*


* I know this last remark will prompt many kind people to offer their own pain relief remedies ... trust me, I've tried them all. I've seen every expert in East Anglia, Essex & Sussex, and there's nothing can be done. Long-term (chronic) pain is something that you have to learn to live with

So glad, know what you mean about the bitter taste. I have to double dose to get a night of unconsiousness but always feel much better for it. Weekends are so easy wine takes over

if youre flying then the booze may help!!!

it does me i have to fly between the ukl and middle east frequently. i usually travel overight and arrive at aournd 7.00 am then striaght to the office for work. if i havent slept its quite tough but the red wine usually helps mesnooze at least.
