Sad and lonely (sniff)

After nearly five weeks of constant visitors, the last two have just left - taking my husband with them
The children are back at school and I am all on my lonesome - even the sun has gone......
Husband should be back early next week, but I feel rather bereft.

(On the plus side - a friend has just sent me all her leftover seeds!)

I know how you feel. It takes me at least a week to get used to the children being home in the holidays and then another week to get used to them not being home when they start back at school. I dread the day they both leave home.

My eldest(6)was back on Wednesday but she had a little op yesterday & I have her home with me today(she's absolutely fine BTW)~we've been busy in the kitchen making a friends birthday cake & as we won't be at party & we have lots of left over icing we're about to make some buns too!Come Monday I'll feel lost as she'll be back to school & younger brother(4)back to nursery!

Hi Tootles.

When we have visitors [or even when the OH was off work for the week with his daughter 11], and they go home/back to work, I get lonely for about as long as it takes to put the kettle on. No offence, but I work from home and love the quietness. Love having visitors but phew - need the peace and quiet.

Except today, when it's so slugging miserable - it hasn't stopped raining and I stupidly volunteered to get some shopping in today. I can't face going out but am going to have to...

Just get that film on, get a cuppa on the go and stretch out and enjoy.

Sorry but I'm with Zazen I like having time to myself this weekend Stacey's dad visiting so will have all day tomorrow till about 9.30pm and then from about 8.30 till 4pm on sunday all to myself, bliss. Oh apart from taking mum shopping Sat morning

I love it when Oh has gone to work and daughter gone to school. I have my breakfast and decide what I am going to do for the day. I would love them both to be away for a few days so I could do stuff I want to do instaed of waiting for them to get up and get going at the weekends. I have been known to go to the lottie and be back before they know ive gone.

I'm going to have the opposite in a year's time. I'm retired and can please myself all day. Next summer Himself retires. It's going to take a bit of adjusting to - having to take someone else into consideration during what has become 'my' time.

In my case it's the change that does it. The kids go back, my visiting friend went back home to Italy, and suddenly there is dead silence with just me and the dog. (He doesn't even bark much---how pathetic is this? )

All the same, I can sympathize, but when I feel like this, I tend to head out to feel a bit more in touch with the world. Starbucks helps, and the nearest Frosts garden centre helps too (magazines, a cup of tea and a cake, bath beads!). Sometimes it helps to adjust slowly to the time alone so I start with a busy shopping day out (even if I don't buy anything) and then it doesn't feel like so much of a shock.

Hope that helps a little. If you weren't far from me, I'd treat you to a cuppa.

Thank you for everyone's sympathy. It is Saturday now and I can't wait for the children to go back to school so that I can have some peace and quiet!!!
