You'll both be fine (if a little emotional) - you're nervous in case s/he doesn't like you!

Don't keep us in suspenders though, let your extended family know how you get on.

£5! flippin eck!! Got mine done for free (nurses priviledges - we don't get much!!)
Good idea to make copies Wayne as the originals do fade with time, our Georges scan photos are useless now, wish we'd made copies - they're 10 years old!!! (10? blimey no wonder I'm going grey!!)
Anyway you and your lovely lady enjoy every moment of the scan is is perfectly magical, you'll be walking on air afterwards!! thinking of you both xxx

I had to have early scans at 6 weeks ish with both of mine due to previous ectopic and I waited for hours in the waiting room about to BURST with my full bladder only to get in and she says 'oh it's too early to do a tummy scan you need to empty your bladder so we can do an internal one instead!'. I was like 'Now they bloody tell me' as I ran to the loo lol

I think they gave you duff info there, with OH she had problems in the first term, and had scans at 4, 5, 8, and 12 weeks, and not once was she given an internal. If I am honest I quite enjoyed seeing the development in the early stages, and thought it was an awful long wait from 12 to 20 weeks and again to 32 weeks (last scan).
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

It's going to be lovely for you both.....very bonding to see what you have both created and are nurturing and protecting!

My kids are now in their 20's and we had the old grainy ultra sound photos- but even with those we could see that our daughter's head was my OH's shape and our son's was mine....still are !

A wonderful day for you all I think!

oooo how exciting - good luck HW & LW, you will be fine - all 3 of you, i take it today is really just the dating scan?? dont know if they will be able to tell the sex yet, but things have progressed so much since 2000, when the twins were born, cor thats another thought!!

IT COULD BE TWINS ha ha ha !! cor i cant wait now! Does LW have twins in the family, but then again if they are identical then you dont need twins in the family! - sorry i am scaring you now!

When i went for my dating scan with the twins i was huge and then the radiographer said to me "look double trouble" - well my OH was smiling feeling proud and i cried ha ha! looked at my brand new car in the car park and cried again! ha ha ha !!

Aye, it's the dating scan - but I think that LadyWayne and I are way beyond dating now, been together 12 years you know!

Only one set of twins in either family - on my dads side, so it's highly unlikely (I think!).

Really really looking forward to it, but like you say Mikey - the waiting seems like ages!

If the next scan is at 20 weeks we'll be on holiday!!! We leave for Tuscany 6 weeks from yesterday. Mi Italiano is not good enough to understand hospital speak!

Good luck! Don't forget we all want to see the pic. so we can all squint & say 'Is that the head there, that grey blob, or is that the leg?'

A bit like "pin the head on the bean" you mean?

I'll have a play with Photoshop if it's tricky to see.

Hope you all enjoy your evening out HeyWayne, dinner somewhere spesh afterwards?

Madmax did my first scan when we were expecting Aranthos. It was the only ultrasound scan he ever got to do while training as a radiographer! Shows how the times have changed doesn't it. The only reason he got to do it was that we had an appointment with the consultant and as Madmax was in his uniform she looked at him and said 'you are training in radiography aren't you, yes, well, you find your baby' and handed him the camera thingy - the powers that be in the department where he was training wouldn't even let him in the room when I went for the official scan a few weeks later! Mind you, we got pictures on the actual scan film stuff rather than on paper so they haven't faded at all! (getting copies of your scan pics was a no,no back then)

We've been out every night this week (well, kind of since Saturday actually). LadyWayne's shattered, so I might cook something nice - depends what time we get in actually, no idea how long these things take.

As you are going to a private clinic, if Lady Wayne's bladder is full enough then you probably won't have a long wait. The time will pass faster than you ever would believe while the scan is being done.
