Must admit, it's all very confusing to me but then again I'm one of the people who avoid anything like Facebook like the plague so I'm probably not the right person to ask.

just noticed that the email address on my profile that i used to sign up with is visible to all. i have now changed mine from my 'real' one to a spam one just incase. or is it just me being paranoid??

I am as good as certain that I never ticked that box at registration, so it may be something that got changed during the upgrade. I fight very hard to avoid spam, so I personally find that change [if it is that] very irritating.

Edit options
Uncheck "You can allow other members to send you email messages."

Absolutely not. All sorts of low-life use automated spiders that will harvest email addresses and use them for nefarious purposes - not just selling them for Spam lists, but tracking where you are known on the internet, and so on. Did you post in the Dwain thread? That establishes a view attached to an Email address ...
