Big Butt

What weather,, I purchased a 300 ltr water butt on friday, thinking that maybee in a couple of weeks I would have a plentiful supply of fresh rainwater for my chilli's the butt is alreadt full , great to have so much safe water, but it is still raining persistantly here,, looks like same scenario as last year, camping washouts, ruined lawn, all plants drowned .

That's a devil of a lot of water!

We've had it wet and windy the last couple of days - really horrid outlook every time you look out of the window you see wet and grey with trees bending in the wind and the sounds of bins, pots and other outside things not tied down being blown all over the place. I know this isn't the worst part of the country for the current weather. You'd think of it as a not bad November day - then remember its July!

Just seen a headline in a newspaper promising more of the same throughout the summer months. Seem to remember there was talk of this in the spring.

So typical, last year had a camping trip booked, wet weather all the time we were away, returned to the most glorious week of the year,,, got sunburned when we were back.

raining here in the north west too, has been for about five days. thankfully i have raised borders so the water drains ok

Same here (North Lancashire coast) - lawn and veg patch are under standing water, chickens may need rescuing by boat soon...

We were going camping this weekend coming, but I have said no. I can get wet enough at home without the hassle of putting the tent up!

It's still pretty dry up here with warm sunny days though it is to be more unsettled this week.
The reason for the quote ? Rainwater ain't always safe - blight, sclerotinia etc spores can be carried in rainwater - I know, I've suffered

So is it wrong to be using this water for my Chili plants and tomatoes ??

I would use it. It's still better than the stuff from the tap and let's face it, if we never used anything due to some risk or other, we'd never get anything done! Same with food!
