The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

You want diverse, here goes. My fave voices (not necessarily the best
but they fit the music so well)
Lemmy, Robert Plant, Bon Scott, Jeff Buckley, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holliday
Karen Matheson, Seal, Mary J Blige, Melissa Etheridge, Emmylou Harris
          Rat

          British by birth
Scottish by the Grace of God

Bob Plant rocks (and rolls etc)

A duet with Thom and Beth would be a completely headmonging experience.

Did I hear Portishead are back ? Got the Rosebowl live album but always missed them live

They were on Jools Hollland last week I think, and BBC 6Music have played a couple of the new tracks during the last week or so. Album's called "Third" by the way.

Me too - Skin from Skunk Anansie. Evil and Angelic at the same time.

Speaking of Angelic - Amy Lee of Evanesence. Mind you, she's pretty good to look at too.

Not rock or pop, but the incomparable Azam Ali has an incredible voice for me.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

have too agree with you on this, especially when i hear 'my immortal' - just amazing.

                          as for mine

Male = Robert Palmer (died far too soon) or Paul Weller

Female = Sharleen Spitteri (sp.) or Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins) she sang a lot of the soundtrack to the LOTR films, very haunting voice. check out Song To The Siren by This Mortal Coil, she is the vocalist on that song too. i had such a huge crush on her at college.

have to say the best voice ive ever heared is blackie lawless from wasp ive seen them 3 times in 2 years, whether its a rock song or a ballard the voice is utterly fantastic. although a rock band they dont scream words you cant understand, you can understand every word sung and the songs have meaning. the last album had a song about the war in iraq and if its not sorted soon that thered be no more room in heaven for our soldiers it was truly moving. the guy has never made a bad album and i have them all for wasp.

Got to be Nick Harper, the range in this guys voice is unearthly and he plays guitar like no one else. He also does a lot of good in this world and raised a lot of money for charity on his last tour.

If you have not heard him check out his site and if you ever get the chance to see him play, GO!!! you will not regret it.
