seems like this is happening all over. My OH company is also making a few people redundant too.

Regarding the job offer - If it looks like his present firm are having difficulties, how long will it be untill your OH is also made redundant? Is the other company in a better position?

Lozza it would appear so as they do a lot of school work and they know they have a years work. Also it is a smaller company 10 or so instead of 50 plus therefore overheads are smaller.

I wish you the best of luck and hope it works out.

My OH has been made redundant twice , really knocked his confidence the second time it happened.

OH has been offered the other job and they have offered just over £1000. a month more to make up for not having the extras that he gets, Now he has to decide what to do, the company he is with might negotiate to keep him but he doesn't think there is enough work to keep him going long term.
                Decision's decision's !!!

Hmm, difficult - and very personal - decision you have to make. If it was me I think I'd make the move. Things sound a bit iffy where your OH is currently, you said earlier that the new job would mean less commuting which has to be good for your quality of life, and a change is as good as a rest as the saying goes.

Whatever decision you come to, the very best of wishes to you both.

Thought I would update on my OH redundancy. It turned out it wasnt going to be him but as he had been offered another job he has decided to take it. Means slightly more money and less milage. He starts on June 2nd and is taking all next week off and another 4 days from the 20th of this month.
He thinks he will be resting but I have other idea's like haveing a really good turf out we seem to have accumilated so much junk. Will put what we can to charity shops recycle some and bin some.
