Its impossible to tell if people dont log in, for example if they just want to nose but no post. I really couldnt tell you Alison.

you could always put the no active accounts onto a compost heap and recycle them back to the vine at a later day when they become active.

As we missed the 4,000th member, I'll organise a special prize for the 5,000th member - probably wont be that far off at this rate...

It's nice to think there are lots of people reading the posts and finding that they answer their questions, but I wonder what else we can do to encourage people to say hello?

Now that's an idea!! I really don't want anyone to be thrown off the site just because they don't post or log in but I can't understand why if you have an "account" you don't log in and just view the site as a visitor. However, that's by the by. As it's a database there must be a way you can "compost" or "archive" members who haven't logged in for a year or so. I use databases regularly at work, and have created a few simple ones using Microsoft, but wouldn't have any idea how to actually go about archiving, I just know it can be done - Over to the boffins.
