Alfred Sutton Central in the Wokingham road, just up from Palmer Park. But I left several years before you were born Mother in law lived on the edge of Caversham Park Village, and before that in the Henley Road.

Oh Thanks Grandpa, you've made my day . Not sure I know where the school is but I have heard of it and, of course know Palmer Park. I used to live on Lower Henley Road near to the Red Cow pub but that was about 1979 ish (grey cells disappearing as I am thinking)
I also know a lot of places that Trousers used to live (even Cleremont, France) and we have a mutual aquaintence in Henley As they say, small world.

what are the odds of it been you cousin , there was about 12 boats working out of there at that time and i was only living there as the boat was based in the helford river.
your cousin also taught me the defanition of cold , ask him about going across goohilly downs in the back of his pickup in the middle of winter , and the house on bryher with the five oclock generator and single gas bottle fires and the fact it was so cold that when you woke up in the morning you could see your breath in the air , and has that landlady tacked the carpet ot the room above the coal shed as when it blows a gale it stood a foot of the floor boards and you had to sleep with your sleeping bag in your bed to keep warm.

Yes,he's still fishing.Also,he became a father again a few months ago,had a little maid.
Was he good to you?And did you meet his mother,my Aunt Marion and did she try to adopt you?!!
More importantly,are you still fishing or were you put off?

i was fishing up untill year 2000 and then i quit because the money i was earning was not great and at the time i could earn more part time with family credit than fishing .

congradulations on his little maid , and i myself have been married , diviorced and bankrupt and have three boys by my ex and 2 year old twin girls by my present partner and inherited 2 step daughters as well .

sorry i don't know if i met your mum as i only went to pluggers dad;'s house once or twice to mend nets.

did it put me of ? no i was fishing long after that and worked mainly on beam trawlers for the next 16 years and sat my mates ticket in 1992 and got to the position of mate relief skipper before quitting , and yes your cousin was kind and fare and i went back to gill netting once more so it wasn't that off putting .

i still remember the cornbeaf sandwiches his dad use to make.

Talking of small worlds, my own experience is this. Whilst working at Dalcross Castle on the refurb / renovation, I was asked to assist Tom, the Head Gardener with the construction of a garden pond (if 50,000 gallons counts as a garden pond) with an artificial ditch running through the woods. On the first day I met him, the converstaion went like this ; Where you from ? Glasgow. Me too. Where about ? Born in Lennox Castle 1963. Me too. March. Me too ! 27th . F**k off you're freakin me out!!!.
Turns out not only born on same day in same hospital, but I called my mum and asked if she remembered a lady called Betty from the maternity ward - she remembered her because she and my mum both went into labour within minutes of each other and because they both had boys. She freaked when I told her I was standin next to Betty's "wee boy"
BTW, me and Tom are now real good mates.

i had something similar, but i ended up going to primary, secondary and sixth form school with a guy who was born the day before me in Redruth Maternity Hospital, both our first serious girlfriends were called Sonia as well (not the same girl tho) everytime we moved house, within six months his parents had also moved. he was killed in a motorbike accident about 9 years ago when a car reversed out onto a main road without looking. (still think about him on his birthday) so definately a small world

Speaking (or typing) of small worlds it is interesting that Shirls' and my world often crossed before we knew each other (ahhh - if only...). Her baby brother studied not 3 miles from where I used to live in Norfolk (Bircham Newton Training Centre). Also her dad worked on the QE2 as did my dad. Also in Nigg Bay in Scotland. Prolly a few other places too. Oh well, better top have met later than never!!

As for friends - travelling too much doesn't give an opportunity to cross paths very often. Bit sad really!!

while on the QE2 theme i will tell you a story, While i was at see in 1987 i served as a deckhand on a beam trawler and one of my jobs is sorting through the catch as it comes aboard , and in one such pile there where four carrier bags from the QE2 and in one was a writing jotter and pate in another but the last two had jewerly to a total of 3 rings and 2 necklaces and by the look of them hand never been worn.
they became the property of the owner but strange thing crop up all the time for no apparent reason , and i was told they where costume jewerly.

I graduated in 1990. It *was* a fabulous place to do Med Hist I also loved living at University Hall and effectively having a team of cooks and cleaners to look after me. I've never fully re-adapted, I don't think! Lol!!!

13 places so far, I thought we'd moved a lot, but looking at some of the other lists all I can say is wow!

As a kid my Dad was a policeman, so we moved with his job around staffordshire, hence I went to 11 different schools in total (explains why my handwriting is sooo untidy! )

Only place I'd like to move, is out into the country with a bit of land, but methinks a lottery win is needed first!
