For the Cat lovers and pic posters

We've often had debates about whether being a cat is all it's cracked up to be. Personally I cannot see a downside (good grub on demand (inc. occasional kidneys cooked 'spesh) come and go at will, comfy chairs/bed/carpet/top of filing cabinet etc etc) EXCEPT perhaps the chore of having to square up to next door's mogs if they come looking for trouble.

But surely nothing can be that good? can it?

The only downside I can think of is fur balls... But another thing I'd love about being a cat is that no matter how fat they get, they always look beautiful, whereas I live on an eternal diet!!!

This is Betty Boo, my "pedigree" cat

She is an old maid of at least 20 years but can still see off next doors tom, shaming her brothers Toby and Stan. Wellie keeps trying to steal her.

Pussy Cat

We found this one in the hedge opposite our house 10 days ago.

Never seen a tabby with stripes like this one, almost like a chinchilla...go faster stripes?

She is known as a Mackerel Tabby. Very gorgeous.

Generations of cats

When the OH and I first met, he had a cat called Taz, she was a beautiful long haired cat but slightly wild (was known to catch water rats & baby rabbits...) She was also a bit of a harlot
The first litter she had, amongst others our friend Bob took one of them, called Tizz, she's the one in the first pic, and really looks like her mother except for the smooth hair.
The second litter we kept one as she was so lovely, that's Splodge in the next 2 pics. Unfortunately, with that long hair, preferred to be outside more than in, and had to have a 6 monthly de-matt at the vets to get rid of the hair-balls. It was lethal to try and brush them out - she would climb your arms, full claws and teeth assault til she got away She was very fond of catnip and open fires though, so we saw much more of her in the winter!

Splodge only had one litter before she got 'fixed', she only had 3 kittens, and they were like a perfect split of her colours - a marmalade tom, a ginger and white girl, and a black and white tom. We kept the black and white tom, called Elvis, because his markings down one side looked just like "The King"'s silhouette! (Well, they did if you were a little squiffy...!!)

My son's cat Whiskers (slinky black cat) declined to be photographed, but disappeared out of the cat-flap in search of any mice that might still be stocking up their larder for winter....

Oh NO! Not returning to Blighty until Sunday early evening, I am missing my cat BIG-stylie now you Rotters! Alice, Pure Genius to start this thread.... and everyone's photos are SO wonderful!

The sneaky photo that Scarey managed to get of those two wild kittens was truly about half-an-hour 'waiting in the wings' to get their confidence, and both of us were truly stunned by their beauty, especially the intensity of the blue eyes on the little black kitten, who was by far the most shy of the two.
Scarey and I tiptoed away from them, as quietly as we had approached, and left them snoozing in the gorgeous November sunshine...

This one shows very clearly that the tom was the 100% pure wildcat (Felis silvestris) we have seen patrolling the area.

What a truly lovely way to start a Friday morning, Lots of pics of beautiful cats and from owners who clearly love their cats very much. Kinda helps to balance the 'nasty' world a little!
