"taste somewhere between gooseberry and rhubarb" ie somewhere between yuk! and just horrible. Why am I not surprised (not sure if rhetorical questions take a question mark or not)

    [edit]
I've sent your link to my mad granddaughter, who is a Japanese specialist, particularly food. She is a regular visitor to the country. I will report back

I live in a part of the UK with very mild winters. Please take this into account before thinking "if he is sowing those now...."

Can't find a recipe but you can use the flowers as a dye and a substitute for saffron apparently!

There's Japanese knotweed growing behind our house, about 4 or 5 years ago the land owners chopped and burnt it but nothings been done since.
I think it's odd that you can buy it in France when it takes hold there's no stopping it, you can actually see it growing in the summer.
            Location....East Midlands.

I haven't eaten a gooseberry or rhubarb for at least 50 years.

              YUK! YUK!

I would have to be starving.

I can imagine Japanese Knotweed being marketed as the wonderful plant to give to your worst enemy!

              Even in La belle France.
