So!...I had a bit of a gooogle and discovered that posties prefer to wear shorts in winter because once their trousers get wet with rain or snow then they stay cold and wet for the rest of their round- not nice!
But with shorts they can microtowel their legs dry.
Sounds sensible eh?"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Morning all.Woke up to a nose bleed this morning
Luckily I managed to get to the bathroom sharpish and get it stemmed.
Had the dog out and it was a bit drafty round the nether regions, even though I am determined to stick with shorts from now on.
Watered my toms and peppers on the windowsill and turned them around to try and promote even growth. If they stay there much longer I will be getting the first flower trusses.
Managed to get some Chervil direct sown in various areas of my herb garden yesterday.
Just been wrapping up four books I sold to different punters on eBay. I often wonder whether its because people get paid at the end of the month that in the next few days I seem to sell more?
No plans for today apart from housework, but OH has an appointment with a 'breathing' specialist at hospital tomorrow which she is quite worried about.
TTFN and take care.

Good day, ( that's just incase I don't get this finished b efore noon) it's been a bit of a mixed morning the down side of this isolation is I have to do a bit of tidying up, so was upstairs emptying a store cupboard I have put out several almost empty paint cans, 4 rolls of wall paper a good number of old dvd discs, but while doing that I found an old diary from 1981 and the 6th. April 1981 was a Monday
so I think I will do the lotery
now asked the family if they want any emulsion paint, I have told them they either take it now or get rid of it later
right need to go and get something to eat, keep happy

It hurts me to correct you Snoop after calling me a venerable(commanding respect because of dignity) gentleman (a courteous or honourable man) but I do need to inform you that the windup wireless is quite a modern invention, though I must admit to having had a car with a starting handle, but then I do like old things, I have VC as a friend, so I doubt that she would say anything derogatory about me or my ageOriginally posted by Snoop Puss View PostMorning, all.
That's brave, Rary, talking about wind-up devices. You'll have VC going on about how old you must be to remember that and asking whether you had a car with a starter handle. Me, I'd never think of pointing out the age of a venerable gentleman.

New heater element for oven arrived today.
Its all fitted and working now but I have the grill trays in a large bag outside with oven cleaner in it.
It says to leave for 4 hours or overnight so it can stop out there until the morning. We can still use the oven by swapping the top oven grill bars into the main oven temporarily.
Its still bright outside, if a bit parky.
Take care folks and stay safe.

I've already read the Emperor series but haven't read War of the Roses....yet.Originally posted by rary View PostYou should try the Eperor books all about Julius Ceaser, or The War of The Roses which of course is about the English Crown, both series are a great read, sadly I only have the one book by him still to read, but at the moment I have a lot to do in the garden, which keeps me very busy

I've still got a wind up gramophone with a large brass trumpet attached and a pile of 78's records.Originally posted by rary View PostIt hurts me to correct you Snoop after calling me a venerable(commanding respect because of dignity) gentleman (a courteous or honourable man) but I do need to inform you that the windup wireless is quite a modern invention, though I must admit to having had a car with a starting handle, but then I do like old things, I have VC as a friend, so I doubt that she would say anything derogatory about me or my age

I am low on compost also Nicos, as I hadn't bought any this year and now can't get out to buy it, what I am doing is sterilising soil and mixing it with what compost I have and adding either adding either course sand or perlite depending what I am potting on, the soil can be sterilised by spreading it on an oven tray a nd heating it in the oven or using a wall stripper, or simply put it into a pot/tin and heat it on the fire, that's the way that I do it as I am not allowed near the oven as my wife is very understanding, she understands that if something can go wrong I can find what it isOriginally posted by Nicos View PostMornin Flon'all
Just had some rain here too. What a contrast to yesterday!
Glad I got the field cut whilst it was dry.
I need to get some potting on done soon, but not got enough compost

Mornings!
Brilliant sunshine already here
It's not supposed to get cloudy until this evening - I hope they're right (for a change)
Domestics need doing, but I'll ignore that while the weather's nice and the garden is calling....
I feel really sorry for folks with no gardens right now. Must be horrid being cooped up especially if they have kids to keep amused
I think that's why they are really trying to keep parks open as much as possible. There are just a few idiots making things look bad, so the police react as they do
Have a good'un and stay safe
