        • I’m starting to dislike engineers a lot !

And we’ve had a windows quote we might actually be able to afford. Won’t need to use polytunnel plastic after all

          • Something resembling a nice day. So we’ve been cutting down all the rhododendrons on the plot and burning them. And lots of other fallen branches.

Your house is going to have one heck of a view to capitalise on. The only house with a swimming pool in the bedroom

                  • Sp keep the dogs away from the rhododensdron as it is very poisonous and if you let it dry out for a couple of years its great wood for the fire
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                    • Thanks for the advice rary . I already know the dangers of rhododendrons. They’re not good for anything including the earth they grow in. I agree it does burn very well, once seasoned. We won’t be needing it. We’re not having a wood burner in the new house :eek. I will miss the cosy warmth from one. I won’t miss the dust and mess. It’s all to do with future proofing. In 15/20 years time we’re not going to be wanting ( and possibly not capable) to be cuttings and splitting our own wood. We couldn’t afford to buy in loads of ready split.
