I am looking for recommendations for a SIMPLE new mobile phone. My service provider is dropping support for 3G so I'm looking for a 4G or 4G LTE phone.

I'm only interested in talk and text but if there's a bit more on it I'll live with it.

I have several months while my current phone is still supported but if I find something I like I'll get a new phone before my service provider drops support.

I think I'll go with an unlocked GSM phone this time and I'll switch providers. If I don't like one I'll just get another SIM card for another provider I want to try.

Any recommendations?

I see you are in the US but most of us are in UK.

You probably will have different brands and models there. Even identical cameras have different names in US and UK.

Try Googling "Dumb phones". And then their reviews. Watch out for some very cheap brands like Binatone which are of dubious quality. Best to stick with established quality manufacturers like Nokia, Motorola etc.

Don't see why you would use 3G / 4G. It is an internet technology - not used for voice and text.

OH and I have a simple Doro phone which we only use for the occasional call. It does calls, text, and has a simple camera. I'm on a P.A.Y.G so it doesn't really matter which provider card you get as long as their signal can be received where you want to use it the most.

Yes, you are correct but my current carrier is dropping support for 3G and forcing everyone to 4G (they are currently beta testing 5G). As far as I'm concerned I've seen some 2G phones that would meet my needs but I don't know of anyone that supports 2G any longer. If I switch carriers I can stay with 3G but I'll need a GSM phone.

I would recommend a doro also, reasonable priced, easy to use and reliable, well as long as you don't drop it down the toilet, and if you do switch off as quick as possible, though as I only use mine for calls and text it work fine, and even have the camera

It's too expensive and I've read about a couple of quality issues but the punkt mp01 would be nice if it was a quality phone at about 1/3 rd the price. There's a phone called john's phone that has the same 2 issues but it's not as expensive. The Light phone looks interesting too but it has issues.

The Doro and the Alcatel Go Flip are about what I'm looking for. If I needed the 'coolness factor' the Nokia 8110 has been re-introduced.

Wish they still had decent phones with QWERTY keyboards.

Blackberry have at least one model with qwerty keyboard - no idea if it's any good - based on Android so might have too many bells and whistles for your liking...

I used to have a Sony Xperia Mini Pro. Due to the keyboard, I hung on to it for years after it had outlived its software. Goodness only knows why they haven't brought out a new version.

I quite enjoyed seeing that another person likes the phones with a keyboard! And I also wonder why the keyboard phones aren't more popular. Touch screen keyboards are always messy from what I've seen.

I keep seeing Blackberry phones with keyboards. For work I've had 3 company-owned/issued Blackberry phones over the years. They were always very reliable. It was nice having emails come to those phones.

I keep seeing recommendations for the Blackberry Passport. It looks interesting but I don't know though. Extreme overkill for me.

My daughter had a blackberry with a qwerty keyboard years ago,you need tiny fingers for the buttons. I got my phone from the supermarket �25 nokia battery lasts about a week I�ve never used the internet on it,just use the texts,calls & a game where you bat a ball & break boxes,you have to be in a waiting room situation for that kind of fun
