    I always cook brisket the way my mother did. Slow cook til tender, then press it with a heavy weight overnight.

      You need a lot of liquid for a brisket, I think. Another way is to braise slices of brisket in the slow cooker with lots of red wine garlic, carrots, onions. Serve your turnips cooked like PP does - I like to leave baby ones whole with a bit of stalk left on.
