We've been trying them whole (slicing any thick bases), in a tortilla-type arrangement, with diced potatoes, tiny bits of mild chorizo and goat's cheese. Really nice.
    I don't roll on Shabbos

I don't grow it due to lack of space, so my wife bought some the other day from the supermarket, we steamed it and added butter, it was like trying to eat hay. Quite disgusting.

It'"s all in the preparation. If it's the green stuff, snap the stems and they will break off naturally where the nasty, woody bit ends so you're left wth lovely, tender stems. The rest, you can make soup.
If it's the white, then it's more difficult. You have to cut off the ends, then use a potato peeler to peel all the nasty haylike stuff off.
