Never mind the sniffing, G4, go raid it. You need one of those eight compartment spice boxes that all bollywoods have. I'm sure you can google that too!

And there is fenugreek outside which may end up in a chappati.

      Just pulled a mahoosive mooli....................

Are mooli supposed to be the size of an elongated swede?

          Monster mooli, snadger?

Yeah, Moolis are roughly the same thickness as a swede, I guess. But a foot long one ::adopts cod bollywood accent:: es a bery nice god size:: ahem, resuming normal service. 4 foot? Binley, what were they, radioactive? Pops has come back from the injun shops with some hefty ones in the past.

...just in case you fancy bollywood-ising your utensils etc. Even get those little balti dishes. Ma becomes a magpie when we go. It's not pleasant.
I think your Ma and my Ma must be related. I dread her walking into Milans in Leicester. She points out things to me I don't need, already have or don't want.

Expanding on Hobbit's mooli thread....I hope all you mooli growers know not to throw away the leaves of the mooli. Use it as spinach, use it for making a chopped mooli and chopped moolie leaves curry. The possibilities are endless. There again, like Hobbit, I have to get Ma on the recording machine again and she will give me umpteen different dishes to make from mooli leaves.
In fact, fresh mooli leaves are very nice in a salad too. slight peppery taste.
                        :-)

BTW.. the Shinding went very well.
                        Sweet corn curry
                        Chick pea and potatoe curry
                        Chillie Paneer
cabbage and carrot coleslaw (injun style)
Spicy rice cooked in coconut milk with baby potatoes stuffed with garlic chutney. Yum !!
                        Samosas and chutney
                        Naan breads.

                        Hmmm...I'm hungry again now.

OK...Hobbit, your thread is all yours now. sorry for the hijack. :-)

                          Vive Le Mooli!

S'all right, Mooli's for all! Hijack away

Ah, yes, the infamous milans on the belgrave road in Leicester. No Indian suit shopping trip is complete without going into Milans to have gander at the clothes and the kitchen equipment.

And yes, I second that Mooli leaf motion. Ma did indeed save the leaves. And I've never tasted Saag like. Her and pop's loved it, us kids not so much. She even used the leaves from the sprouts (before the sprouts formed, the leaves were horrible) That too was an acquired taste. Ma has also added the mooli to salad, and i'm not selling this particularly well, but that was yet another 'yeah, those are are nice ::are the flip as like::' moment.

Ok............better late than never! I am finally able to give my gastronomic reply to this thread after finally getting round to making it.
As I sit here my mouth is still tingling (but in a nice way!)
As I only have mahoosive mooli! I only grated half of one with an onion and 4 green jalapeno's. Not sure about how much garam massala I had to add, I added half a jar full to give it a bit of colour? Had no red chilli powder so used crushed chilli's instead.

You weren't joking about squeezing out the grated mooli were you hobbit, as I must have expelled nigh on a pint of liquid!
Made the dough with plain flour, and got wrong off OH for making a mess on the bench rolling the damm stuff out.
First effort finished up a little bit too large for the frying pa and I had to chop it in three.
Second one I got spot on for the size of the pan and in fact it is still in there as I am full to the gunnards with the first lot. Hope its ok to eat cold for my bait tomorrow?
Luckily I made some fairly plain sweet tomato relish earlier in the year for OH who can't eat spicy stuff.(More for me!)
This was the perfect accompanyment to the chippati (which I have never made or tasted before.)
Verdict.........a very nice, and filling supper. Only part i wasn't keen on was the edges where it was just plain dough (chooks will enjoy the edges I'm sure.)

I have a little bit of the mooli mix left and may add some grated cougette and an egg to make it into fritters/bhajis for tomorrow nights supper.
Still got lots of mooli growing so still after recipes!

Snadger, what an excellent testimonial and Diwali night. You have just made fork handles night!

And yeah, should be fine tomorrow. Fritters sounds lovely. Well done, my lovely.
