Some people eat 'peas that aren't ready' as mangetout, but a true mangetout doesn't have a fibrous layer in the pod. When podding peas swell up, the pod is tough. When true mangetouts get old you can still eat them, pod and all. That's the difference.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

We had our first picking of Sugar-pod peas yesterday (and our first carrots). The peas were actually at a half-way stage between mangetout and sugarpod, but we were impatient to try them with our Sunday Roast.Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
