  • Curry, surely the answer

Every time I wonder "what can I use this vegetable in" I always end up thinking curry. It has got to be the most versatile meal, with so many varieties and accompaniments it never gets boring.

Can anyone think of any vegetable that you can grow in your garden that you couldn't put in a curry?

The only arguement against it is that it might over-power the more delicate veg (or you just don't like it!)

I know people do, but Parsnip. I do make spicy parsnip soup but snoops are more often than not roasted in our house. There's nowt worse than eating a curry, thinking you are just about to have some potato and you get parsnip.

^haha, I can't stand parsnips. When I was younger my mum used to sneak them onto my plate by telling me it was just potato, but the lie was shattered as soon as I ate a piece! Same story.

I make a mean curried parsnip soup. It's a bit creamy but got curry spices in it.

Can't imagine courgettes in a curry though...

Phew - if Mr H says so then it must be true

            Great mind and all that.

Maybe parsnip curry could work but I've yet to come across Brussel Sprout Curry.

hmm...what can't you curry? lettuce? Pak choi? I suppose you could out pak choi in Thai Green Curry - it's still oriental. I struggle with the curried lettuce though!

Courgettes - yeah, mix veg curry. I gave some courgettes to work mates a couple of years back and one lady made curry out of it.

                      Lettuce = side-salad/dressing

Hmmm, brussel sprouts...can't let the curry theory fail here!

I was going to say brussel sprouts but I've been beaten to it.

Parsnip curry is nice I've made it a couple of times.

My mum makes sprout curry ! She's not mad or anything (well, thats another thread, but anyway...) its on purpose.

It goes back to when she asked dad what sort of curry he would like, he replied 'oh, anything' and sprout curry was born.

I was thinking about being a smarty pants and saying rhubarb, but that could maybe be a curry accompaniment as a pickle ?

Thanks, Alison, for keeping the curry theory alive!

Bam Rhubarb Curry Recipe...doesn't look appealing though!
