  • Chive seeds in place of onion seeds

I don't have any onion seeds but my chive plants have loads of seeds.
Do you think I could substitute chives seeds for onion seeds in recipies.
Also I have garlic chive seeds which might be interesting!

    Any ideas
    Thanks Jimmy

I'd give it a go.. Careful though. Once in our shed, below the drying onions we found lots of seeds. No seed heads on the onions but the small, black, hard and irregular shaped seeds looked just like onion seed. A taste test revealed they were slightly salty, not at all oniony and were in fact caterpillar frass

I don't see any reason for not doing that. It's almost the same really, the taste is similar. I think you will get a great result. Try with a bit, if everything goes okay, you will remember it for long.
